No, and it is expected. The installer is not yet code-signed with a Windows publisher certificate, so SmartScreen shows an “unrecognized app” warning and lists the publisher as unknown. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Some antivirus tools flag unsigned installers for the same reason.

You can confirm you have the genuine file before running it. Open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run Get-FileHash .\MG-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256, then check the result against the hash published on the changelog page. The app’s own updates are separately signed and verified, so updates after install are checked automatically.

Your local data and Free Offline features keep working. Open your account page and choose Choose a plan: Starter keeps hosted sync, and Pro also keeps the custom domain and API access. The plan goes onto the same license, so everything from the trial stays put — and nothing is deleted while you decide.

Type it into the app's License step once and it keeps itself current on your plan after that. To see it again, open your account page. No internet on that computer? Use Offline activation on your account page instead.

Open your account page, choose I don't have my activation code and enter the email you purchased with. We email your activation code to that address. No new purchase is needed.

A Windows desktop app, and nothing else. You never need to open install.php, rent a PHP web host, run a server, or hold a database password — those belong to Midnight Grid, not to you. Free Offline keeps everything on your own computer; a paid plan connects that same app to Midnight Grid Cloud.

Automatically. When your activation code is accepted, Midnight Grid hands the app its own connection and stores it securely — there is nothing for you to copy, paste, or keep safe. If the connection ever needs changing, we change it.

On a paid plan, job images and attachments are stored in Midnight Grid Cloud alongside the rest of your data, and are included in the backups we run for you. On Free Offline they stay on your computer.

Yes, any time — open your account page and choose Renew or upgrade (Change plan on a monthly or yearly subscription), or choose Upgrade in the app's License settings. The new plan goes onto your existing license, so your data and settings carry over and nothing is lost. The time left on your current plan is kept, and moving from monthly to annual ends the monthly subscription for you.

Each seat covers one team account and one activated computer, and the owner's account counts. Starter allows 3 and Pro allows 10. A technician needs their own team account to get a phone link, so count everyone who signs in.

Hosted Lifetime licenses issued before we moved to subscription pricing remain fully honored and grandfathered at their original terms. Hosted Lifetime is closed to new sales — new purchases choose Starter or Pro.

Open your account page and use Manage subscription to update your card, or Cancel subscription to stop the renewals (you keep the time already paid for). Monthly and annual plans renew until cancelled and list their invoices there too; a year prepaid before annual plans renewed by themselves is renewed with Renew or upgrade.
